West Elm has compensated me for this post…however all thoughts and photos are my own. The plate reads….More Savoring, Less Laboring…..so so so true. Especially …
Christmas
New Years Eve fortune cookie display
I wanted to pop in and share this fun idea for your New Year’s Eve celebration. An empty wine bottle, some icing, and fortune cookies….perfect for a fun night of ringing in the new year!
I mixed up some royal icing (easy recipe below) and spread that onto a wine bottle that I cleaned.
Open up about 40 fortune cookies (careful they break easily)…Spread a bit of icing on and slap on the wine bottle. A fun tag on the top tells people to share in a fortune.
Low fat Cinnamon Cake Recipe
Warning: I am a stress baker…and givin the last weeks events…well, that and the holidays…my kitchen smells like a bakery most of the time…and I find that very comforting. So I will try to spread out some of the bakery post for you ;) This recipe is one that I made for Thanksgiving week….but it is perfect for any holiday.
I usually steer clear of low fat recipes…because normally they call for more sugar…and what’s the point of that??! But this recipe actually uses buttermilk (which is a dream to bake with by the way…) This cake is moist, tender, sweet and cinnamomny…yum. Perfect to have Christmas morning… I have only made this in a Bundt pan….but I would think a regular 8 by 8 pan would work fine too. Just test for doneness after 30 minutes and see.
Santa Ornament
It’s not really a “tutorial”….more of a “hey, maybe you might like to make these with your kids because they are super easy and fun” post. I mean simple…people.
Take the top off one of those plastic clear ornaments, stuff in some shredded red paper. Hot glue on some black trim or ribbon…white pompom. Done. And done.
Go forth…and make many Santa’s :)
