Easy Trim project for basement (DIY Trim)

Hi all! I know that you have been following along on instagram (see the top on my instagram for the entire story of the basement update, it is on the highlight section.) I wanted to share with you here as well. I know that many still like to “pin” all the projects:) I have been going real old school lately and actually getting inspiration from magazines again! I know, archaic! Do you think that we will ever go back to just reading books and magazines?? I kind of hope so. As much as I love my phone, I feel so tied to it at times….I often think it would be kind of nice for the internet to break down for a few weeks. Can you imagine?? It would be kind of liberating!

Anywhos, onto the trim that is literally my favorite thing in the whole world. No, not dramatic. It adds soooooooo much to this space! Here is a little break down of how we did it…..

Latest obsession: DIY $6 Gel Manicure (How to use ImPress Nails)

A beauty blogger, I am not….but I have to tell you how much I love this product. I heard about it from Mallory over at ClassyClutter. She showed on her instastory a few weeks back these nails that you press on, and they stay on, do not get marked up, look amazing for a week…and then you take them off. I was intrigued mainly because I am that person who gets a gel manicure, and then HATES to go back and get it taken off—so I try to do it myself, with the foil and the acetone, and waiting—and I end up crying and cursing all the things after about an hour or trying to take off the gel nail polish. Can. Not. Stand the gel. So, I wanted to try these Impress Nails, they are cheap, come in a ton of colors, no harsh gel light thing, no harmful chemicals and are SOOOOOOO easy to put on and take off. Since I project a lot, and my nails are constantly getting beaten up, I thought it was at least worth a try. I shared this on instagram a few weeks back—yall were intrigued too. I will say, that I didn’t find much info online about the best way to take them off. So I did put a little video together so that you can see how easy it is:) You can find these at most drug stores and Target etc….I have found the most color selection at CVS (in stores they are about $6)

Cheez it Chicken Recipe

I know this, I cannot go back to college. We just came home from our kids Parent weekend at University of Dayton. We had an absolute blast, but I was ready to come home! Our kids are really enjoying college life—they have settling in with a really nice group of kids. We feel so thankful that they are loving UD as much as we had hoped they would! It adds another layer of fun when we can experience the campus as not only alumni, but also has parents of current students. Our kids are so different, yet they are each finding their own little niche and friend circle—exploring what they want to study and “do” in life—finding their way. We were able to catch up with friends we haven’t seen in awhile…was a bunch of fun….

Almost FREE Fall Mantle (Shop the House)

Wow friends, it has been AWHILE! I had to re train myself on how to blog! Is anybody still here? I know that I hear from some of you on instagram and facebook….hope others are still here:) I hope to blog a bit more often, now that life is settling a bit.

We have had a cray cray 2018—let’s just say we are looking forward to this winter and turning the calendar page to 2019. I know that you come here to finding inspiration….so I thought I would give you a bit of fall goodness today. Even though temperatures are still in the 90’s….I decided to pull some fall things out and re arrange them a bit. I got a couple of new things at Homegood’s—but everything else was from other parts of the house. It is a simple mantle—but I like it that way.

I wanted to show you how you can create something similar in your home—just by layering a few things at a time.

I started with a wreath that I have had a long time. I actually shared this several years back (how to make a full wreath for not a lot of cash:) Next, I placed one tall wheat and a smaller one (both found at Homegood’s) on the left side, and I balanced that with a lantern I took from the Dining Room. Then I added in some smaller items like a couple of framed pictures of my kiddos (when they were little, sigh), some fake apples (that totally look real), a piece of pottery from the kitchen, and some old books from the library.

I placed this old window (that has been everywhere in our house) and I secured a wheat wreath with floral wire….

All the colors of fall….nice and cozy…I added in a few flameless candles as well:) See me on instagram and I will share that this week:)

I hope that gives you a few ideas for your own mantle. Kentucky friends, I added a few fall inspired watercolor pillows in the Etsy shop….. Stop by to see! If you have a minute, my peanut started a blog….go show her some love! http://emilysclaire.blogspot.com/
