We had a glorious time last week. The beach was empty…serene and every time I grabbed my beach chair and bag…and put on my flip flops…and walked 3 blocks to the ocean….I had a lump in my throat and a feeling of overwhelming blessings. It is a place that is a retreat in every sense of the word. The sound of the gulls…the rush of the oceans waves lapping the sand…kids building sandcastles and playing paddleball….it all just feels like home. We slept with our windows open and waking up to the sound of the gulls and falling asleep at night to the rush of the ocean waves…heaven.

We also managed to work in a little DIY project too:) Hubs built the outdoor shower and Emily and I painted it. (sidenote: We have been watching a lot of Rehab Addict and Emily wants to do “that job” when she grows up….”How does Nicole know how to do all those things Mom?” … ” Well, her parents taught her a lot of it!”) We almost got the whole thing licked…just need to build a door;) Yes….I already have a cute little hook up…couldn’t resist. I will have a “sort of kind of not really fabulous” tutorial for the outdoor shower. I must admit…I was at the beach while the hubs was building…but I did help a little;) See…here is a evidence…me with a paint brush….

My parents are still planning on redoing the kitchen area for us….we are hoping Dad gets the all clear from his Dr. to go down there soon.

We added a few little touches here and there (love this little cabinet…perfect for glasses!) …a few new Homegoods finds…Along with a new sign for the front of the house….we named her “Bluegrass by the Sea” :) The sign was custom made by a local company at the beach. It was a Christmas present from my honey this year…
