I do have the best parents (and in laws…) we are truly blessed. I have told you before how incredibly handy my dad is. Well, my parents are going to take some time to update the kitchen at the beach house. I am hoping they take a few days to relax on the warm sand too:) They are very excited to see the house and get busy with some plans we have been cookin up. Here is the brief version of what they will be working on to make the space a bit more updated….

Since we had the wall removed…this half wall is now a perfect spot for a breakfast bar. My dad is going to create one (still hashing out how long it will be..) but it will be a great space to sit, eat and hang out. We are thinking the material will be birch plywood which will provide a smooth surface for our countertop covering. I found a really cool product called Spreadstone. I was listening to Gary Sullivan (because I am 80 and I listen to talk radio…moving on….) and he was describing this innovative new product. I was intrigued so I went to the website to see what it was all about. My dad took a look too and he gave me the thumbs up to order some so he could apply it when he is there. One kit will cover the existing faux butcher block…along with the new breakfast bar. $125 for a whole new look—we thought that was worth it! I went for the Soapstone color (see above)

They will also be changing out the hardware, painting the cabinets white, putting in a new sink and faucet…and doing some paint touch up. Yes, I will owe them a dinner….but then again…we have given them vacation for life—so maybe we will be even:)

Anywho, we are so excited to see this big transformation…for little cash:) Take pictures dad…so I can share with the world!!
