I found this chair a few weeks ago at a local peddlers mall. It is original..solid…and from the 1940’s. A perfect desk chair for Bill’s office. It was marked $60 and quite frankly it was a steal at that price…but I happened to be there when the owner was there and she offered it to me for $50. I couldn’t turn it down. I don’t have to do a thing to it…just a little clean up and a bit of oil for shine. It’s a beaut Clark, I tell ya, a beaut….(sorry, had to be said…)

So you can imagine my enjoyment…while thumbing through the current Potterybarn catalog…I happened upon this….

    1. I do too! The tag on the back is from a small midwestern company. And we researched it…they sold this exact chair between the 1920’s and 40’s….I love the age!!

  1. Love that chair… and love the Vacation reference. :) your blog is such an inspiration. Because of you I had the courage to completely redo my stairs…all on my own and disconnected my sink last week all by myself. :) You wouldn’t happen to have a video for reconnecting it would you:) Ha!

  2. Love the chair and love that it’s so much cheaper than the Pottery Barn one (and nicer looking). I love when furniture has a story to it (how old it is, where you got/found it, what kind of deal you got on it, etc.). BTW, I’m new to your blog and wanted to say how lovely your home is and how much I enjoy reading your posts. Your board & batten entrance inspired me to do ours – just finished it last Thursday – painted the walls Light French Grey like yours and absolutely love it. I had also been toying with the idea of painting/staining my stairs and once I saw your post on doing yours, I made up my mind to do it. Now that the B & B is finished in the entrance, that will be my next project….so excited! :)

  3. Love your chair!!! It’s great having pieces that have a history – it always makes me feel like I have a connection to the past! Lucky you for finding such a great deal too!!
