This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine. The hot brown was invented in Louisville….at The Brown Hotel. I have never been there. A bit sad since I have lived within 15 minutes of the Brown Hotel for the past 20 years….I’ll get there someday. It’s on “the list”…I don’t feel awful about it since my hubs has lived here is entire life and has never had THEE Hot Brown at The Brown hotel. Basically, a hot brown is comprised of turkey, bacon, & Mornay sauce. It was invented in The Brown hotel for dinner guest that had a case of the munchies later in the evening (after dancing and a few bourbons I am sure…) In lieu of a standard ham and cheese, Chef Fred Schmidt created this unusual pairing to fill up the late night patrons. Ever since that evening in 1920…The Brown Hotel has been serving up the turkey goodness. The dish is synonymous with all things Bluegrass…here is my little take on this traditional southern classic…in bite size form:)
