Giving a Meaningful Wedding Gift

What was the most meaningful wedding gift you received? We had a few….a friend made a video montage of some behind the scenes from our wedding day…that we would have never seen otherwise. My dad made a wall hanging with our wedding invitation….and we got a large hand painted platter with our wedding date on it from my mom-in-law that was locally made. All of these gifts required some thought….and after 17 years of marriage we still remember and cherish each one of them.

The holidays tend to bring about engagements…and with that brings gift giving. Target would like to help you give a meaningful wedding gift. Here are 5 things to keep in mind when choosing a wedding gift…

1. Take into account the couples interest.

2. Be sure to do a little research about their style.

3. Be mindful of their lifestyle.

4. Any store bought purchase can and should be made personal.

5. Don’t get stuck up on price….consider more the thought.

My friends at Target wanted me to put together a gift that I would have enjoyed getting for a wedding present. A “date night" themed basket is always a thoughtful gift and there is really endless possibilities….I think this dessert night basket would be well received. Maybe a cute basket, with a picture of the couple…on this adorable Threshold tray….along with a Fondue pot and stylish tablecloth. You could include a gift certificate for a dinner on the town…and suggest dessert at home….hubba hubba;) Maybe a good sparkling wine to finish.

Include a few of these champagne flutes made by Riedel…..

I think the most important thing to remember is to think about that couple….and really give a gift that you know would fit them. It will make the gift you give be remembered for a long time….and isn’t that the whole point of giving a gift?
