First off….if you are looking to have any prints made look to Canvas Prints   Serious great deals!!!

And now, onto the first crafting post of 2011!!!!

I love a handmade gift. I made this recently and thought you may want to make one.  It is really easy and can be made in any color you might like.

Yarn + Canvas = Art
I painted the canvas first with my decor art paints…baby blue
I goggled the letter I needed….”D” stencil…a bunch of images come up that you can print.

Print it in 300% enlargement. It will be on several pieces of paper. Tape them together and cut out the stencil.

I first painted the canvas a blue color with some bottled acrylic paint. Then lay your stencil on top and trace around it.

Using permanent fabric glue, put a bead of glue around the outline of your stencil.
I used a yellow textured yarn that was on the thicker size….it is a bit wavy and I liked that…
Start by outlining the entire letter with the yarn…

Allow this to dry so that your letter will have this outline when you go to fill in with the rest of the yarn.
Use hot glue to attach the remaining yarn to the canvas. Just start in a corner and go with the lines of the letter. Keep going following along the curves of the letter until you have it filled in with yarn.
Interesting art that is personalized and ready to give as a gift!
