What is the strangest thing you have ever spray painted? For me…this project was the first time I have ever spray painted fruit. Yes, as in apples, oranges….fruit. I am hosting a girls night on Thursday and since it is Halloween week and all….I decided to make it all creepy. Here is a peek at some table decorations that maybe you can throw together this weekend for your Halloween festivities!
Unsure why I feel the need to call them “creepy”…but I figure with Halloween an all….
All you need is some fruit. I had oranges and apples available. I was inspired by this pin on pinterest. So cute…this little apple votive holder!
I used some wine bottles (if you don’t have any , I have hundreds)…carry on here, nothing to see….I enjoy wine…and the bottles it comes in :)
Note: your dog may stare at you strangely when you take food outside and start spray painting it. Very confused little Putter….No worries, I won’t spray paint your dog biscuits. Yet…..
Let the paint dry over night. Then use a paring knife to cut a circular space out of the top of the fruit (making sure you use the end that doesn’t balance as well)
My candle fit better when I took it out of the metal cup holder. Be sure the wick rest on the inside though.
I gathered some random candlesticks (all silver) from around the house and placed the fruit on top.
I love a cheap, fun and spooky piece of fruit…all lite up for the party!
(A little tip, I cut mine today and I am keeping them wrapped up in my fridge…so all I have to do is take them out and light!)
Love this!
What a great idea. This idea can be used with other holidays. Just paint the fruits the color of the holiday.
Trac – this looks sooo cool! Love it.
oh very cool! I need to do this!
Nifty! And does it smell like citrus in your house? Great idea. I would be delighted to have you stop by and link this up to my VIP party this weekend! http://designergarden.blogspot.com/2011/10/vip-party-34.html Have a safe and happy halloween!
This is so awesome. I have been working on Halloween and Fall projects and I am so doing this. Thanks for this great project.
