Bill and I have some amazing friends…some old, some new….very blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people. Some of our best friends from college live just one hour north of us. We visit often and they come here.
(Me, Bill, Chris, Pete)
Favors were homemade ginger snap cookies….family recipe…so good!

They started back in the day (1995 to be exact)—having a small gathering of friends for a Thanksgiving party. It all started with just a pot of mashed potatoes and some turkey –along with a keg of beer. Paper plates and napkins…perfect. Since we are all grown up now (except for Bill and Pete…) they have upgraded a bit—white china, real forks, and a spread of food you wouldn’t believe!

I told my friend Chris I was going to blog about her decorations and party—she said go for it. Chris is an amazing cook, she has fabulous style–and she is one of the most kind, generous, and clever people I know. I think you will agree….be inspired to be clever. Thanks for inspiring me Chris! Hugs!

Outside, she lined the walkway to the door with large hurricanes and mason jars wrapped with berries from her trees and jute roping. Loved this!!! And so thrifty!
So warm….so happy :)
You step inside and there is a champagne celebratory drink—so welcoming….
Chris dressed the mantle in natural berries, mason light candles, pomegranates and some lovely white pottery. It really did feel as warm as this picture…can you smell the turkey?? Yes…love this party so…
Beautiful antique compote with yummy spicy mixed nuts! Recipe coming…..so addictive and yummy!
The Dining room was stunning….gorgeous long table with mason jar candles, pomegranates and twine with berries down the center….Everyone brings a dish to share—so plenty of room was left for everyone’s dish..
Original to the house (I think…?!?!) a large plate shelf that goes around the entire room…of course more mood lighting with mason jar lights…
I love these…can you tell…..
And friends…laughing…chatting…catching up….
Tent was set up out back for the bar and some tables ….perfect size…
Let the good times roll…..thanks again Fras and Pete…..

I'm so inspired by this party! So many good ideas for lots of impact without much investment. OK, except for the tent out back. That's pretty fancy!

  2. Awesome ideas, Chris! I just can't even imagine the time you spent making all those mason jar candles. You must have had tired hands making all those knots.
Looks like you had a fantastic time. Happy Tday!

You are so sweet! I think it turned out OK. How many calls and texts did you get pre-party?
