I know you have seen those super ginormous vases at places like TJ Maxx and Homegood…they are so so big! I found one recently on the clearance shelf and it was a perfect height for a little table. Only probably was it didn’t have a top. For $7….I thought I could make a top for it out of wood. Here is how I did it…

Well looky there….fits my wine glass perfect :) And the vase is a great display for all those corks!

We thought a removal top would be perfect….
We measured the top and subtract a few cm inside that. Our thought was to make a circle that fit inside the vase to hold it in place. We placed a larger circle on top and nailed into place (we also used a bit of liquid nails.)
I used a bit of wood conditioner (to be sure of even coat of stain). Then I followed with 2 coats of Dark Walnut.

It fits great in the new coffee bar!
