I was looking for a new pot for my new plant (it’s still alive…..yes, I am proud). I loved one at Target by Smith and Hawkin…but $15…not willing to buy it…So I set out to make my own.
Starting with the lightest tan…use sponge brush and lightly go over the entire pot…no need to be perfect…
Come over that tan with the golden color….mixing in some of the darker brown…When you blend paints that are similar colors…it takes on more dimension. Which is what I was going for….I wanted it to look aged…
This looks great, I tried painting a clay pot once and it looked like something a kindergarten child would make!!! I will try your technique next.

I love it! Very pretty colors. I am always browsing through the pottery barn catalogue and thinking…i know i could do some of these myself! Pottery Barn is so expensive!
I've been dying to try this technique and you have made it look so easy, so now I have no excuse.
what are the names of the colors of paint that you used? thanks!
I used CraftSmart paint (Michaels) Golden Brown, Metallic Gold, and Espresso :)
I love how this turned out! So simple yet so elegant :D
