We are not spontaneous buyers…at all. We take many many months planning things out before we make a purchase. But sometimes…you go against the grain…you do something out of the box…you go in for eggs at Costco and you come out with a 7 piece sectional sofa…at least we did on New Years Eve!

(my peanut helping to put the legs on…tag on her head says “I’m legs” ….if the shoe fits girl…)

We have been wanting to replace the red couches for about a year….and when my honey saw this sectional in Costco…he was smitten. I have to admit….it is rather cozy. It fits our family perfect. As much as I love other styles of furniture….this beefy sectional is homey, cozy, comfort and warm…all the things you want your home to feel.

One thing I like about it…..it comes in 7 separate pieces. So if we want to make it into a couch and separate chaise someday….that is an option. The one thing it needs is a sofa table. We are going to construct one out of wood….it will match the coffee table that we built a few years ago. I like the texture of the stained wood next to the soft couch.

I am inspired by Young House Love

It provides plenty of “drink” space and a spot for a couple of lamps.

I also love this one I spotted on Centsational Girl. Obviously ours will be shorter…:)

Both are functional and simple…perfect for this spot behind the couch to hold a couple of lamps and a drink :) I am thinking of incorporating a bit of steel or copper too :) I’ll be sure to share the deets :)
The nice thing about our family room is it will fit a good amount of seating…and yet still plenty of room to lay on the carpet if you want.

A few were asking…color on the wall is Phillipsburg Blue by Ben Moore. The large yellow chair on the right is going in the basement. I wanted to sell it…but my son is in love with it and wants to take it to college (he is 12)….so we are letting him have it. Boy, he is really planning ahead.
And the bookshelves are getting spruced up too this week. Just reorganized a bit….:)

  1. I was wondering if you still like that blue color or if you are getting tired of it?

  2. I am wondering if the sectional is attached in any way or if the 7 pieces are able to move when you wouldn’t want it to move. I looked at this sofa at Costco but I couldn’t really tell if it was able to snap together in some way. Thanks!
