replace recessed light with ceiling light@cleverlyinspired (2)

Our master bath has been getting a few upgrades here and there. I told you about updating the cultured marble…and we really love how that came out. The light above the tub was just a standard recessed light. I was wanting something a bit more stylish. What I thought was going to be a simple light change out….turned into a bit more work. I wanted to share with you how I did it…incase you have a similar situation. There is a product on the market that will allow you to hang a ceiling fixture with a single light bulb. However….my light required it to be hardwired to the ceiling. I also made a short YouTube to explain the process ;)

We really LOVE this light….it came from Overstock.com and was a value at just $100. It is so lovely and sparkly. Sparkly is fun ;)

The video will go into a bit more detail than these pictures….but the basic steps are…

1. Take the can light fixture out of the ceiling.

2. You will have a hole in your ceiling now.

3. Go to a local hardware store and purchase a ceiling fixture brace. This will basically go in between the ceiling joist above and hold up the bracket that will hold your fixture. You will then be able to install your fixture as normal.

If you are unsure about wiring your new fixture to the old house wires…I have made a YouTube to show you how (from the kitchen update)

Here is the YouTube about this new bathroom light.

(please note….I am not a registered electrician…just telling you what works for me)

Happy wiring!! :)
