Welcome Marci from Timber & Lace….
Hi, I’m Marci from Timber and Lace. I just recently started blogging and was completely thrilled when Tracie invited me to be a guest blogger on Cleverly Inspired. What do I have to share on a blog where I get so much inspiration myself?
I thought maybe I’d share a simple tutorial of a pillow Tracie liked from my kids playroom.
You need:
2 – side panels 5 3/4″ x 11 1/2″
6 – strips 1 1/2″ wide by 9 1/2″ long in the same fabric as the side panels
1 – contrast band 5″ wide by 11 1/2″ long
(You can make your own designer fabric for this like I did by following this easy tutorial.
1 – piece of backing 15 1/2″ long by 11 1/2″ long
With a pencil draw a line down the center of each side panel piece. This should be at 5 3/4″ and then one on either side 2 1/2″ from the center line.
Sew a basting stitch down the center of each of the six strips.
Gather each strip until it is only 5 3/4″ in length.
Pin the gathered strip onto one of your pencil lines.
Using a regular stitch length sew the ruffle onto the side panel.
Continue this step until all ruffles have been sewn onto the side panels.
Right sides together, pin and sew the contrast band to the side panel.
Repeat with the other side panel.
Pin and sew your front panel to your back panel right sides together remembering to leave an opening for your pillow form.
Clip the corners.
Turn your pillow cover inside out.
Stuff your pillow form into your pillow cover.
Pin and hand stitch the opening closed.
ENJOY!!!
The most fabulous thing about this pillow is the fabric in the center is handdrawn! Marci shows you how on her blog….go check out Timber and Lace !
