I’ll be back next week some some #clevermoving updates…today…a fun craft! Hope you had a beautiful weekend!

I can promise you ….I am not the first person to think of this project. If you search out new use for an old sweater…you are sure to come up with a ton of inspiration. But when I stumbled across these sweet “beachy” sweaters at Old Navy…that happened to be on clearance…we are talkin $4.99 clearance people….I thought that they would make a really sweet addition to our couches. So I was off to figure out the easiest way to make that happen…here is how it went down;)

So when I say “no sew”….I mean no sewing machine;) You do need to know how to use a needle and thread…but I think you should know that anyway:) File this under “Things to teach your kids this summer” ;) But other than a needle and thread…that is about all your going to need to create these pillow covers.

Upholstery extra strong thread (in color that matches sweater)

Old sweater, clearance sweater, dads old sweater…you get the point. (Mine was a size small sweater for a 18inch square pillow)

Pillow form (I used a couple of worn out pillows from my couch)

How to:

Dress your pillow;) Smooth out and arrange the pillow in the center of the sweater.

Tie the arms behind the back (try not to think to much about how horrible it would be to be stuck in a straight jacket…and then how do magicians get out of those??…and then I could use a hershey kiss…and then my butt hurts…I should have sat in a chair… #randombloggerthoughts)

Ok, moving on…Place the neck flaps over each other

Thread your needle and sew a basic long straight stitch to incase your pillow.

Do the same thing on the bottom of the sweater.

Flip the sweater over and place a little knot on the tied arms to secure them from unknotting (hope that makes sense;)

  1. Such a clever way to use those old navy sweaters that you wouldn’t actually wear but have some fun typography. Thanks for sharing!
