I went to an estate sale a few Friday’s ago. It was in an HUGE GIGANTIC OLD house…I love looking at old homes…bonus because I could shop too! The couple living there were moving to be closer to their grandkids. They were really quite sweet. Come to find out the man was a surgeon…and I am positive a very good one (again, huge gigantic home…on about 5 acres—where they don’t sell 5 acres of land anymore..) anywho, he encouraged me to take a look at his library. All books only $1….he had me at $1….I was off to search.
I found this treasure….

Large beautiful pages…National Geographic World Atlas. My first thoughts were how many cool “map” crafts I could make. Sort of love a great map project as you know…

But I brought it home…and the kids started looking at it…for fun…like in their FREE time…looking through a map book. They love this book. I couldn’t possibly start tearing out pages.
Then I come to realize the first half of this semester of 6th grade they will study geography! So this little one dollar investment….has really gone far!
This is the current book…selling on amazon for $70….can you say BOOYAH! Love a good bargain!
Go see what you can find at an estate sale…or yard sale!

  1. Awesome find. I have one of these too…also in the dollar pile from a charity sale. Too cool. The only other thing I found for a steal was a great pig framed poster sold at IKEA (alphabet poster – they have it for $50). I got it for $3 at the end of a neighbor's sale.

Don't you just love those finds?
