  22. My favorite meal would have to be the southern summer meal of fresh garden vegetables: tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, corn, okra, squash – you name it – with freshly baked cornbread and cold sweet tea. Yum!

  25. My favorite meal is a mixture of vegetables (except corn) on a piece of foil, a piece of fish (tilapia or salmon) on top, drizzle Sun Dried Tomato Vinigret on top. Fold over the foil to close and cook for about an hour on the grill. Delicious!! It is fun to dump it in a bowl after cooking, put mozzarella cheese on top and put under the broiler for a couple minutes.

  26. My favorite meal ever is Chicken and dumplings, sweet peas, iced tea and peach cobbler for dessert.

  27. my favorite meal always has been and will probably always be…'pot roast'. i not only love the potatoes, carrots, onions slowly cooking with that tender roast, but i love how the smell permeats the house all day. i'm drooling just thinking about it.

  28. My favorite meal is the one where my whole family is together- which is so rare these days! We could be eating canned soup, and it would be the best canned soup ever, just because I got to have it with them!!!

  31. My favorite meal would have to have been at my Granny's table, in her tiny little Jim Walter Home in tiny little Centerville, GA. When I opened the door the smells were like a warm, delicious assault to my senses – chicken frying in a cast iron skillet, fresh peas simmering in a pot with a piece of pork for seasoning. I can hear the whir of the hand mixer as she made homemade mashed potatoes, potatoes that were dug out of the garden in her yard. Once the chicken finished frying, she'd pour the "grease" off and make creamy, dark brown gravy for the potatoes.

Once we got to the table she'd take the biscuits out of the oven. A pan of golden brown, steaming homemade biscuits! Oh what a delight they were. We would cover their soft insides with real butter and slather them with the creamy gravy.

Also on the table would be a saucer with finely chopped onions to put on top of our peas, and another saucer with sliced, freshly picked tomatoes.

Sweet iced tea! Oh that delicious nectar of the South! In glasses that had to rest on a paper napkin because they would sweat so much in the Georgia heat!

After we'd eaten lunch we'd have dessert. There was always a pound cake waiting in the kitchen. She made at least one a week. In the deep summer, like now, she would have fresh peaches a neighbor had brought over for her. She'd have them in the refrigerator, or the "icebox" as she still called it, chopped up and covered with sugar the night before. We'd spoon that over slices of pound cake for dessert. Oh, how my tastebuds remember that!

My Granny died ten years ago at the age of 92, and I miss that dear woman still. She was a fantastic Southern cook, and the family still shares her recipes to this day.

  32. My favorite meal is one of my own concoctions, Shrimp Dish. Saute onions, peppers, and shrimp in olive oil – add some chicken broth – boil whole wheat pasta – add smart balance, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese to pasta. Serve shrimp mixture over pasta, top with parmesan cheese. Easy and delicious!

Favorite meal?? California Tri-tip, rice pilaf, and a salad full of veggies from my garden! Yum!!

  34. I love, love, love Thanksgiving. But for an everyday meal, anything Mexican usually makes me happy. Thanks for the chance to win!

  35. GREEK FOOD! Greek Easter (Paska) is one of the best holidays because of all the yumminess involved :) so… i guess if i had to pick a meal? it would be a plate with gyro meat, pastitsio, dolmades, spanakopia and tiropita… and a baklava sundae for dessert! omg i just made my mouth water! kali oreksi!

  36. OH hands down, Thanksgiving dinner, the best with all the trimmings. Oh and pies mincemeat, pumpkin, and cherry; oh I know that's a summer pie but canned cherries will do in the wintertime. Everyone always brings their own special side dishes; they only bring the best of the best, and mostly family heirloom receipts. Oh, to find out the receipts to those would be heaven.

  37. Anything at Grannie or Nanny's table! I was blessed to have grandparents from Maine & Tennessee. From New England seafood feasts & chowders to southern cornbread & brown beans. The best of both worlds!

  38. My favorite meal is when my family is all together. It does not matter what is on the table.. what matters is that we are all sitting down and sharing a meal. My son's favorite is mac and cheese so I can always count on him being around when I bake that!

  39. Steamed Maryland crabs, fresh corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes & cukes, a cold beer all served at the beach!

  40. hmmm…. my favorite meal is probably grits with a little butter and a little salt and pepper, fresh tomato slices, and some fresh fruit out of the garden at the time (like watermelon or cantaloupe). Simple but so good! I could about eat it every meal. :)

  41. Elaine Bellamy @kid in my heart

My heavens, was it the Girl Scout camp out when we carried all our cook out stuff down into an Oklahoma red rock canyon out east of town and made the best Chili-Bake ever with seasoned meat, onions, corn, and a cornbread topping baked in a cast iron Dutch oven over a campfire…was it the first time I had fresh breaded & fried oysters on South Padre Island…could it have been the best cheese enchiladas ever made that we used to eat at a little turquoise restaurant no longer in business in Tucumcari, New Mexico every time we went to California? Was it one of the long ago Christmas dinners eaten @ my Grandmother's table, which is now in my own house? I can't decide…but I really need that subscription because I love your magazine for all it's great ideas, in addition to thinking about great meals I have eaten.

  42. All of my friends make fun of me because it is my favorite mag but I love the decorating style so much! They have such a great variety of features that keep me interested!

  43. One of my most favorite meals is when you can look at the table and realize it is all homegrown and homemade from the meat and potatoes down to the homemade butter. Doesn't happen alot but what a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment!!

  44. Sue@CountryPleasures

Has to be Christmas, everything is just more special this time of the year! And everything is homemade too! Hope I win!!

  45. Honestly I am finding your recipe's to be very tasty. We love the Corn stuffed Tomato dish. What a fabulous idea. Then I see today's dish for Salad Pizza..sounds like another winner to me. I love a good caprese salad this time of year & anything cook on the barbeque. Thanks Susan, from Newberg Oregon

  46. my favorite meal is lasagna, salad & garlic bread. I smell like garlic for days but it soothes my very soul. thanks for the give away1

  47. Pasta with cream sauce!

  48. Nancy Bee's Knees

Without a doubt, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. My grandmother used to make magic roast beef … done to perfection on the inside, crispy on the outside, moist and delicious … yum! And her Yorkshire pudding was perfection, too. I'm sure she's cooking this awesome meal in heaven! :)

  49. Oh wow. My mouth started watering just thinking of my favorite meal: roast beef with yorkshire pudding (looks like I'm not too unusual!!). And my grannie's "brown pudding" (it's a bit like sticky toffee pudding) for dessert. With pouring cream. Oh man. YUM!!

  50. Barbecued Shrimp! Shrimp fresh from the Gulf of Mexico, prepared New Orleans style – oven baked in butter, Worchestershire sauce, lemons, garlic, and thyme – served with fresh French bread, a green salad and home grown tomatoes, enjoyed once each summer with my entire contingent of closest relatives. Unsurpassed!
