I started this back when my kids were 4…

“I am thankful for Rainbows, my dog and daddy” Emily wrote…
” I am thankful for basketball”….was what Conner wrote…
Every year we break out the Thanksgiving Journal—and make a few entries
It is just a spiral bound scrapbook type of journal..with heavy card stock pages. The kids do what they want on the page–sometimes creating more than one. I keep it out from Nov. 1 till Thanksgiving–so when the mood strikes—have at it!
It is my most favorite time of the year—reflection on those things we tend to take for granted–like being able to play basketball whenever we want…and for rainbows….And mostly, thankful for each other ;)

  1. Love this idea! In general, we all could use a little more time reflecting on what is good with our lives and the world. Great thing to pass on to your children. Maybe starting a new tradition at my house this year!! ;)

Awesome idea. My daughter had to make a list of things she's thankful for at school and I was so impressed. She listed about 30 different things that I never knew she thought about. This will be great to look back on in 10 years.

  9. WOW! This is absolutely fabulous! Do you keep the same journal and add to it every year? I love that–so the kids can look back and see what they wrote last year. I definitely would love to do this! Thanks for linking up to my Thanksgiving feast! Enjoy your weekend!
